Welcome to The Love In Your Story! It has been and will continue to be a very interesting journey for me as a contractor. You may have read already that my formal training is in Psychology. I currently hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Georgia and a Master of Science in Rehabilitation Psychology from the University of Wisconsin. I’ve always felt that I had a calling to be a counselor, as I’ve drawn upon my natural instincts and ability to empathize easily with others in a wide variety of settings. I enjoyed therapy, and I became an important part in the lives of the children, adolescents, and families I served. . .And in the winter of 2006, I became a mommy and thus began a family of my own.
Then began the ultimate transition: from THERAPIST to GRAPHIC DESIGNER.
I’m currently enrolled in courses at The Art Institute to work toward a degree in Graphic Design! I decided to take the Digital Design diploma program a go first, complete it, then continue taking courses to earn a BS in Graphic Design. This path will lead me toward a career that I can control (for the most part) as well as a career that I can do from home, so that I may be around my kids while they are so young.
I learned about a means by which I could do consulting as an independent contractor. The opportunity was through a new company by the name of Heritage Makers. Heritage Makers is an online publishing system which allows you to work with clients to publish digital scrapbooks, recipe books, and story books with ease. Totally up my alley!!! I’ve never been the type to do things like this, which in my opinion is along the same lines as Mary Kay and Pampered Chef (love their stuff), but I saw myself doing this. And… It’s Oprah approved, LOL!
I feel that working in the graphic design field will open a lot of doors for me to be able to work successfully from the home, while also being able to devote a substantial amount of quality time with my future family. After all, being a mother (and hopefully someday, a wife) will always be my #1 on my list.
I’m very excited about The Love in Your Story. Combining my passion for therapy with my passion for design led me to this beautiful place. Through storybooking and creative crafts, I believe we ALL can make a difference in this world. Each day, we experience extraordinary things and oftentimes, we neglect to share our stories and wisdom. We also tend to bottle up our emotions and bury those memories that cause us pain. Tell your story to someone. After all, scrapbooking and/or storybooking can be very therapeutic!
Your moments are a part of your legacy. Publish your story in a book. You deserve to be remembered and celebrated beyond your lifetime!
